Chosica is a little town about 4 hours to the north east of Lima. Apparently, in the 1920's, it was where rich Limeños went to get away from the city for the weekend. Even though I know it probably wasn´t like I imagine- Dance halls blaring 20's tunes with flapper women dancing the jitterbug til all hours of the night!- it did seem somewhat nostalgic. In reality, it's just a series of country clubs and these strange nature resort spas. So basically, you just go there to pay to sit in a grassy area with trees and a river running beside you. Being familiar with the noise and pollution of the city, I can totally understand why this place is peaceful to Limeños, even if it is a bit contrived.
